Well Sonic Academy is essentially this.  They bring top notch instructors and industry legends to the comfort of well, anywhere with internet!  They have standard style lessons teaching a broad range of topics from basic to advance techniques.  Also available are interviews and sessions with actual professional EDM artists and producers.  Not only do they give great insight in to what it takes to be a pro, they show practical tips and tricks to help take one’s producing skills to the next level.  What is also great about Sonic is that they aren’t afraid to jump into music theory based lessons.  To some theory is second nature and a crucial aspect to producing while others avoid it like the plague.  Either way Sonic gives you an opportunity to learn theory within the EDM environment exploring things such as a hit EDM track’s chordal harmony.

EDMPROD

EDMPROD is a respected EDM blog offering a YouTube channel to coincide with their website. Similar to Sonic, they have multiple instructors teaching essential EDM tasks to improve a producer’s skill set.  Although they offer some lessons in other DAWs such FL Studio, if you are an Ableton Live user this channel will be a perfect fit.  A good majority of there lessons and reviews are based out of Ableton.  Their instructors also primarily use Ableton and are well versed with the software.  Being blog based, EDMPROD also has some great content regarding the state of the industry and also the creative process a producer goes through when creating a track. Lesson topics include ‘breaking through writer’s block.’  EDMPROD is a great tool for not only the physical side of producing but the psychological side as well.
